
Batons and Handcuffs
CPPSEC3110 | CPPSEC3111
This course is designed for security personnel whose employer requires them to carry batons and/or handcuffs while performing their duties. Participants must be authorised by their employer and have a genuine reason to carry and use this equipment.
Training covers the legal considerations, safe use, and practical skills required to present, control and restrain a person using batons and handcuffs. Participants will undertake practical exercises in a simulated environment to develop confidence and competency.

As a Security Officer carrying batons and handcuffs, your responsibilities may include:
Applying lawful and proportionate use of force
Controlling persons using approved baton techniques
Restraining persons using handcuffs safely and effectively
Complying with workplace policies and legislative requirements
Maintaining safety for yourself, colleagues and members of the public
Course Outcome
On successful completion, participants will be issued with a Statement of Attainment for the following nationally recognised units:
CPPSEC3110 Control persons using batons
CPPSEC3111 Restrain persons using handcuffs
Entry Requirements
Participants must:
Hold a current Queensland Security Licence or
Have completed the Certificate II in Security Operations
Have sufficient English language, literacy and communication skills
Licence & Regulatory Information
This is not a licensed course. However, industry recommendations suggest completing refresher training every 2 years to maintain currency of skills and industry knowledge.
