
Certificate II in Security Operations
CPP20218
This nationally recognised qualification is the required training for individuals seeking to apply for a Queensland Class 1 Security Licence with the functions of Unarmed Security Officer and Crowd Controller.
This licence enables employment in frontline security roles, including:
Unarmed Security Officer
Guarding, patrolling or monitoring property without a weapon or guard dog
In-house security roles
Loss prevention officers
Security gate officers
Crowd Controller
Maintaining order in public places
Screening entry into venues
Monitoring and controlling behaviour
Removing persons for inappropriate conduct
Monitoring Officer
Monitoring functions can be added to your licence without additional training.
If you currently hold a Crowd Controller or Bodyguard Queensland Security Licence and require renewal, enrol in the Crowd Controller Refresher and Provide First Aid Course.

CPPSEC2108 Screen people, personal effects and items to maintain security
CPPSEC2109 Monitor and control access and exit of persons and vehicles from premises
CPPSEC2110 Monitor and control individual and crowd behaviour to maintain security
CPPSEC2111 Apply security procedures to manage intoxicated persons
CPPSEC2112 Apply security procedures to remove persons from premises

Entry Requirements
Participants must:
Have sufficient English language, literacy and communication skills
Be physically fit and capable of performing defensive tactics
Be able to bend or kneel for at least 2 minutes to perform CPR
Have access to a reliable computer with email and internet access to complete the pre-course online training
Licence & Regulatory Requirements
All Queensland Security Licences are administered by the Office of Fair Trading (OFT).
Applicants must:
Be 18 years of age or older
Be a fit and proper person
Have no disqualifying offences under the Criminal Code within the last 10 years
Additional government fees apply, including:
First year total: $606.00 (includes mandatory fingerprinting and police check)
Criminal history check (if not completed within the last 6 months): $47.10
Mandatory fingerprinting fee: $109.60
Multiple Function (Unrestricted) Licence Fees:
$449.30 for 1 year
$905.60 for 3 years
Delivery Format
Pre-Course Work
Approximately 30 hours of online, self-paced training
Includes reading materials, videos, quizzes and assessments
Must be completed prior to attending face-to-face training
Face-to-Face Training
6 days in-person training (8:00am–5:00pm, approximately 54 hours)
Trainer-led activities, case scenarios and practical exercises
Closed-book examinations
