Crowd Controller Refresher

This refresher course is designed for individuals who currently hold a Queensland Crowd Controller or Bodyguard Security Licence and are required to complete mandatory training every three years to maintain their licence.

The course ensures participants remain current with industry legislation, standards and defensive techniques relevant to crowd control and personal protection roles.

If you require Provide First Aid, you may enrol in the Crowd Control Refresher including Provide First Aid (3 units)option.

As a Licensed Crowd Controller or Bodyguard, your responsibilities may include:

• Managing conflict and security risks using negotiation techniques

• Controlling persons using approved empty hand techniques

• Applying lawful and proportionate use of force

• Ensuring public safety at licensed venues and events

• Responding to incidents in accordance with legislation and industry standards

Course Outcome

On successful completion, participants will be issued with a Statement of Attainment for the following nationally recognised units:

• CPPSEC3101 Manage conflict and security risks using negotiation

• CPPSEC3121 Control persons using empty hand techniques

Entry Requirements

Participants must:

• Hold a current Queensland Security Licence with Crowd Control or Bodyguard function

• Be physically fit and capable of performing defensive tactics

• Have sufficient English language, literacy and communication skills

Delivery Format

• 5 hours classroom training

• Trainer-led activities, case scenarios and practical exercises

• Closed book assessments

Licence & Regulatory Requirements

All Queensland Security Licences are administered by the Office of Fair Trading (OFT).

Participants are encouraged to review Queensland Security Licence requirements prior to enrolment, as additional eligibility criteria and government fees apply. Requirements generally include:

• Being 18 years of age or older

• Being a fit and proper person

• Having no disqualifying offences under the Criminal Code within the last 10 years

Security Licensing Fees (OFT):

• First year total: $606.00 (includes mandatory fingerprinting and police check)

• Criminal history check (if not completed within last 6 months): $47.10

• Mandatory fingerprinting fee: $109.60

Multiple Function (Unrestricted) Licence Fees:

• $449.90 for 1 year

• $905.60 for 3 years
