This nationally recognised course is designed for individuals seeking to obtain a Queensland Weapons Licence for Category C and D firearms.


Participants will develop essential knowledge of Queensland firearms legislation, community safety responsibilities, licensing requirements, and the safe handling, storage and transport of firearms. The course combines classroom-based theory with practical training at an approved live firing range to ensure participants are confident and competent in the lawful and responsible use of Category C and D firearms.


This course forms part of the 11029NAT Course in Firearms and Weapons Safety (Approved for Firearms Licensing in Queensland).




As a Licensed Category C & D Firearms Holder, your responsibilities may include:


  • Complying with Queensland weapons legislation

  • Demonstrating safe handling and operation of Category C and D firearms

  • Safely storing and transporting firearms and ammunition

  • Understanding community safety and legal obligations

  • Applying responsible firearms practices at all times




Course Outcome


On successful completion, participants will be issued with a Statement of Attainment for the following nationally recognised units:


  • NAT11029001 Demonstrate knowledge of weapons legislation, weapons and community safety

  • NAT11029003 Use Category C firearms lawfully, safely and responsibly

  • NAT11029004 Use Category D firearms lawfully, safely and responsibly

Licence & Regulatory Requirements


All Queensland Firearms Licences are administered by Queensland Police.


Participants are encouraged to review Queensland Weapons Licence application requirements prior to enrolment, as additional eligibility criteria, documentation and government fees apply.


Please note: You must submit your Weapons Licence application within 12 months of completing this course.
