HLTAID009

This nationally recognised CPR course provides participants with the essential skills and knowledge required to maintain a person’s life in an emergency situation until medical assistance arrives.

Training is delivered by experienced, qualified trainers and includes hands-on practical instruction to ensure participants are confident in performing effective cardiopulmonary resuscitation. All training is conducted in accordance with the Australian Resuscitation Council (ARC) Guidelines.

This course is suitable for individuals new to CPR training as well as those requiring annual refresher certification.

If you work in an environment involving Low Voltage (LV) apparatus, you may wish to enrol in the combined Low Voltage Rescue & CPR Course.

This course covers:

• Assessing an emergency situation

• DRSABCD action plan

• CPR techniques for adults and infants

• Use of an Automated External Defibrillator (AED)

• Assessing and moving injured casualties

• Legal responsibilities of a first aider

• Basic anatomy and physiology

Course Outcome

On successful completion, participants will be issued with a Statement of Attainment for:

• HLTAID009 Provide cardiopulmonary resuscitation

This nationally recognised unit certifies competency in delivering effective CPR in emergency situations.

Assessment Requirements

Participants must demonstrate the ability to perform a minimum of 2 minutes (5 cycles) of CPR on an adult resuscitation manikin placed on the floor.

Licence & Regulatory Information

The Australian Resuscitation Council (ARC) recommends that HLTAID009 Provide cardiopulmonary resuscitation be renewed every 12 months to ensure skills remain current and aligned with national guidelines.

This certification is valid for 12 months, after which refresher training is required.
