Provide First Aid and CPR Course

This nationally recognised course provides the essential skills and knowledge required to respond to emergency situations and is the minimum requirement under Workplace Health and Safety legislation for workplace first aiders.

Participants will learn how to assess and manage a range of medical emergencies and provide care until professional help arrives. Training is delivered by qualified trainers and includes hands-on practical scenarios to build confidence and competence in real-life situations.

This course is suitable for individuals new to First Aid as well as those requiring refresher training.

This course includes CPR training (HLTAID009).

As a Certified First Aider, your responsibilities may include:

• Providing cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR)

• Delivering basic emergency life support

• Managing injuries and medical emergencies

• Applying first aid principles in workplace and community settings

• Maintaining safety until further assistance arrives

Course Outcome

On successful completion, participants will be issued with a Statement of Attainment for the following nationally recognised units:

• HLTAID009 Provide cardiopulmonary resuscitation

• HLTAID010 Provide basic emergency life support

• HLTAID011 Provide First Aid

Assessment Requirements

Participants must:

• Perform at least 2 minutes (5 cycles) of CPR on adult and infant resuscitation manikins placed on the floor

• Demonstrate practical first aid skills during face-to-face training

For blended delivery, participants must have basic computer skills and access to a reliable computer with internet and email access.

Delivery Options

Public Bookings – Blended Delivery

Pre-Course Work

• Online/self-paced training (approximately 3–5 hours)

• Includes interactive modules and a final assessment

• Must be completed prior to attending face-to-face training

Face-to-Face Training

• Approximately 3.5 hours practical training

Group Bookings

• Option 1: Blended delivery (online + face-to-face)

• Option 2: 1 day (8 hours) fully face-to-face

Licence & Regulatory Information

The Australian Resuscitation Council (ARC) recommends:

• HLTAID011 Provide First Aid be renewed every 3 years

• HLTAID009 Provide cardiopulmonary resuscitation be renewed every 12 months

Regular renewal ensures skills remain current with the latest ARC guidelines.
